The dham is, in many ways, a place that has to be seen. The shape of the temple against the changing levels of the lake, the play of light on the saffron flags, the morning mist that rises off the water at five in the morning, the lamps that come alive at sunset — these are the small visual rhythms that no amount of writing can fully convey.
